Alan Mitchell of Design North, in conjunction with the Cold Climate Housing Research Center in Fairbanks, Alaska has developed a nifty heat pump performance calculator geared toward home heating retrofits.
This calculator allows you to evaluate the possible energy and cost savings from use of an air source heat pump in an Alaska home or small building. It is more detailed than many other online calculators, it’s localized for Alaska, and has a great output and report section.
For many consumers, it may be best to have someone knowledgeable to help with answering the questions and interpreting the results. If you need your results interpreted, we suggest reaching out to the experts at Alaska Heat Smart for their input.
