SE AK Town Hall – Infrastructure for Our Future

Last evening, August 31, the Juneau Economic Development Council (JEDC) partnered with the Southeast Alaska Conservation Council (SEACC) to bring local experts together to look at infrastructure opportunities in Southeast Alaska that could benefit from bills currently working their way through Congress.

Did you miss it? No worries! We have it here for you! Read on and then watch via the YouTube link! Many of us at Renewable Juneau found the conversation and the message inspiring!

Senator Murkowski believes the infrastructure bill to be the most important piece of legislation that she has ever worked on, according to her chief of staff, Kaleb Froehlich. THAT is a big statement!

Partnering with JEDC and SEACC were Renewable Juneau, the CBJ’s Commission on Sustainability, the Rural Energy Alaska Project (REAP), the Inside Passage Electric Cooperative (IPEC), the Tlingit & Haida Central Council, Goldbelt and Juneau Hydropower.

Local speakers as well as representatives from Senator Murkowski and Rep. Young’s offices discussed the opportunities for SE communities created by the bills, focusing on four areas of infrastructure development critical to our future: renewable energy incentives, funding for rural energy infrastructure, expanding broadband and improving our ferry system through modernization.
